In einigem Abstand folgten ihnen zwei Gardisten.

  • "This looks good, Sir Dagger, very good indeed." Balor looked around and nodded. "The East Blackwood Company has been busy. Pray, tell me, how many people make their home in Schwarzheim now? Do you have a rough estimate for me?"

  • Dagger smiled at the margrave's words but the smile had layers. Two cold and harsh expeditions were behind him and he had recently won himself a form of peaceful retribution in the North before returning to Zweiwasser.

As the two walked, Dagger thought over the question posed by Lord Balor answering shortly after, "a respectable amount I would say but not as many as I would like. There are several Dosen Marchants, trades persons, their families and laborers here now. We also have several Embassy Guards here many of which are newly hired from the region.

"Still, I would like more to fill out the district but I have to be realistic in these times. We expect an influx of workers and their families come the spring but we will likely have to pitch tents for them until more homes can be built. Since we began a recruitment program in this region we have been able to employ many Zweiwasser citizens who felt the effects of the past few years. It was my hope that the East Blackwood Company could provide employment for their skills in spite of the effects of war and the newer land troubles that have plagued Mythodea these past two or more years."

Dagger paused in thought for a moment before continuing, "I hope that is all in order... My Lord.". Dagger's tone had shifted from a sure and confident to causious.

  • Balor smiled at Dagger´s last question, but it was a sad smile.

"Ser Dagger, if you were a citizen of Zweiwasser I might be inclined to answer, that yes indeed, all is in order. But as you are a leader of men, I will say this: things are never in order. Not really."

The margrave shook his head and lifted a hand in an apologetic gesture.

"I apologize. You meant something else altogether. So, yes, Ser Dagger, all that you have done sounds good and fair to me. It always was my hope, that East Blackwood and Zweiwasser will benefit both from this endeavour. And I hope too, that Schwarzheim will grow in the near future. We may have need of it", he added, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

  • Dagger nodded thoughtfully as the two, shadowed by Zweiwasser guards, walked past the construction of the 'Drei Ponies Bauhaus'. It was far from complete, progress slowed by the season but progress was being made.

"Is there anything in particular that would be... Beneficial for the future that we could build here?"

  • Balor eyed the construction work of the brewery. The wooden beams of the roof, the walls, still low, mere foundations.

"A brewery is always welcome, for knights and fishermen, nobility and commoners alike. But right now ... houses, Ambassador. Zweiwasser needs houses." He sighed. "You know of course, that the Eastern Realm has decided to leave the shores of Mitraspera, to sail on an unchartered course to unknown lands, guided only by the visions of the Vahatar?"

  • "I was not aware of the purpose of their departure... My primary goal here in Schwarzheim has been to build homes to house the families of members of the East Blackwood Company and the Embassy Guard. I can work toward increasing the construction beyond that to provide homes for more than that in the future... Of course, there are always costs to such projects." Dagger smiled.

The smiled faded to a more inquisitive expression, "what sort of visions?... Why the Vahatar?"
