After the battle of Ankor Mortis

  • The battle was over, at least for now. The night was lit by hundreds of fires. People celebrating the victory, drinking together, mourning those who had fallen to make the great dream come true: the end of Ankor Mortis.

A fire was burning at the camp of Zweiwasser and Gorasia too this night and bottles of port and stronger spirits were being handed around. Balor rose from his seat to give the traditional blessing for the fire of community.

"... for tonight, we are all simple men here at this fire. Even the women", the Ash Knight concluded, smiling at those gathered here, Jarnsfolket and Gorasians, Dragon Guard and adepts of the Academy, knights and commoners. All as one. Balor sat down again and the celebration continued. Here and there, people were deep into conversations, speaking animately at the flickering fire.

  • Lily raises her glass then takes a sip of her port and stares into the flames for a moment. Through the flames she sees Elané on the other side of the campfire. She looks to her glass and sighs for herself. Then she picks up the bottle and moves around the Fire of Community, and takes a seat next to Elané.
    "Can I offer you refill?"

  • Elane stares into the flames of the fire as she thoughtlessly spins her cup between her fingers. She comes back to the here and now when someone sits down next to her and addresses her.

When she looks aside, she sees that it is Lily.
"I'm sorry, did you ask something?"

  • "Hmmm, yes, that's what the flames of this fire do to me. Drifting away on thoughts."

Then Elane looks at her empty glass and laughs.

    "Yes, please."

Elane watches as her glass is refilled.

"Tell me, how did you experience this field trip. In the camp, I saw you busy translating documents. But surely that has not been the only thing. Tell me, what is the most intense thing you have experienced?"

  • Lily pours port for Elané with expertise.
"This is a difficult question you pose. So many experiences contesting." She pauses for a moment and looks away in the flames. Th finally she continues" I think... the most intense moment would be the point my brother shouted down Varek."
She then looks to Elané again. "Tell me of yours?"
