• A few weeks after the summer campaign in Methraton Thul.

Elane's horse galloped through Zweiwasser heading for Ignisort at high speed.

At the Tower of Light she stops briefly but does not dismount. Traces of the attempt to burn down the tower are still clearly visible, as are the stains of dried blood on the spot where the young man's body was found.

Elane sighs and with a look of restrained anger she rides to the monastery.

Arrived there she dismounts, grabs her luggage and swords and walks to her chambers, ignoring the monks and nuns looking at her. Then she goes to Lyria's chambers which look as if she is about to enter at any moment. Elane takes the dragon's eye pendant, a gift to her shieldmaiden, from the table and goes back to her own room. She sits down to read the letter for the umpteenth time.

  • To the fire witch of Ignisort

    Bloodelf,

That's what people call you now. What a fitting name. You have found taste in blood and

death, yes? Well, so do I.

We have your little Shieldmaid in our power. A bad habit of hers to walk around at night...

She's our guest as long as you don't do anything stupid. If anyone tries to track us down

or something is done to one of the Free People's fighters, she has to suffer.

    And that in her condition...

Do you know what mercy is, Bloodelf?

Maybe you will get to know it. But maybe not.

Elane's eyes begin to glow with anger as they remain resting on the black hand at the bottom of the letter.

  • Focus Elane, focus.

Elane throws the letter on the table and thinks of the other letter she got. She stands up and walks to the door. There she addresses the first monk who passes by.

"Good day, you can tell where Brother Borgamon is. I need to talk to him urgently."

  • Meanwhile, after being redirected from the tower of light, a rider arrived at the monastry. In simple brown coat and trousers both sprinkled with mud from the roads he had travelled across, his appearance didn't show any signs of his status. Even the heavy-loaded saddle bags weren't anything but usual. Only the bastardsword at his belt would have distinguished him from a common messenger.

Leaving his face hidden in his hood, the man marched forward to the monastry. Although his upright walk could have beared signs of a person who wasn't working on his knees or bowing all day, he almost melted into the scenery. Without wasting any time Briceus began to start his investigation by looking for unusual signs.

  • Elane, waiting for Borgamon, is writing a letter for Kaz-A-Bran when there is a knock on the door of her chamber. It is not the scribe of the monastery but a young monk who is telling her that there is someone walking around outside the monastery.

With a sigh of concern, Elane lays down her pen and stands up. Recent developments call for vigilance and caution. She nods at the young monk as a sign that she is going off on her own to investigate and walks outside. In search of this mysterious figure.

When she spots him she approaches him quietly and carefully and when Elane stands close behind him, she briefly coughs, standing ready to repel a possible attack.

  • The person walking around the yard of the monastry has been too focused on looking for something to realize a pair of nimble elven feet approaching from behind. He shrugged as if he was caught doing something forbidden, but returned to a centered stance quickly.

"I knew I would be found by you in this place at no time, but that was quick indeed." Briceus slowly turned around reaching out with both his arms to swiftly greet his friend.

"Your letter reached my chamber and I came as soon as it has been possible. No one knows I am here. So what do we have at this point?"

  • Elane lowers her hands if it turns out it's Briceus sneaking around.

Still alert but in a soft tone

"I haven't found any clear leads yet. To be honest, I was waiting for Borgamon, the scribe of the monastery who also sent me a letter about the current situation.

Because it seemed to me to be a safe option, I have already made an attempt at a magical search. I used the dragon eye pendant that I gave her when she became my shield maiden. Blackhand will have shielded her well because it has unfortunately yielded nothing."

Elane briefly stops talking and looks at Briceus.

"I also think it would be better if we kept your presence here a secret."
