Dear friends - mysterious place

  • Who: Skara and Ramirez

    Where: Sagara

When: the first weeks of the new year

    --------------------------------------

First this letter was sent to Ramirez:

    Ramirez,

I hope you and your people are well and can rest a little bit. The realm has a lot of trouble in the moment, is sagara attaked in some way, too? A lot has happened in the last month since we fought togehter. Not only for the realm but for me. Among the few people I call truly friends are you. That is why I need to speak to you in person. I don't want so summon you, I want to meet simply as friends and fellow soldiers. So - if you have me - I will come to sagara. Since I never was there I'm very curious about your home.
We'd part as soon as you invite us.

May the elements guide your way

    Skara

Shortly after Ramirez answer Skara and a few of the liongard parted for the fiefdom.

The horses sweated a lot in the heat of the sun. The air war heavy and hot. The men were struggling, too. Marching and riding fast forward, yes. But it was not a pleasant trip for them, because they weren't used to the climate and dressed way too thick. The horses were heavy and wore pieces of armour, too. But here they sould have been light and fast.

But one person had the time of her live. Skara was riding ahead, sweating and huffing, too. But she was too amazed by the sights here to notice that.

The beauty of the sea of gras stretching until the mountains in the distanz, the animals she could spot between the high gras. Almost like a exitect child she was pushing forward. Not because she didn't care for her poor lionsgard behind her or the tired horses. She just couldn't wait to see even more.

She hold on to the scarf around her head that sould protect her a little bit from the sun. At Shan Meng-Feyn the month were way colder and darker, so her skin wasn't prepared for the trip (Someone had pointed out before dressing her - she didn't care)

Ahead in the distant she saw the fortress Merak. The beauty of it's strongness watching over the plains around it was magnificent. The wind was playing with all the red and gold banners she knew so very well. As they came closer she could spot people in golden amour on the walls ... So that's their home, she thought. It fitted them perfectly.

When the travelers entered the fortess it was quite the oposite to the calming nature outside. It was a busy city full of soldiers, horses, little buildings and workplaces. Almost instantly people helped them dismount, grabbed water for their horses and huge bottles for the men. The liongard was greeting and shouting to the soldiers they still knew from the last battles.

Skara joined them but her eyes where searching for two particular men. Ramirez and Vicent were nowhere to be seen in the busy scenery.

  • Answer to letter

    Skara

I thank you for the letter I received and would be honored to receive you in my home, the fortress of Merak.

We managed to have a short rest but Sagarans never stay put for long and we have had to organize and train the soldiers. No attacks in Sagara, thank the elements. I have been honored to serve with you and our friendship has been forged by the fiercest flame of all, that of battle, know that you always have a place of friendship here and I would greatly enjoy a talk in more comfortable surroundings.

With the coordinating of the troops, Vincent and I are often meeting, so there is a great chance he will be at Merak Keep when you arrive.

I look forward to see you across the Shimmering Plains of Sagara and show you our great fiefdom.

May the elements keep you safe and if they are not enough, I am sure the Lion Guard can handle the rest.

    /Ramirez

  • The day of Skara's arrival:

Aja had been on the lookout since Ramirez had asked to her to be the one to welcome the general to Merak and of course the timing had been off, she had just been finishing her shift when the signal sounded and she had to take off running through the keep, still wearing her white uniform pants and a white cropped cotton top, red hair flying wildly as she sped past people, narrowly dodging carts and supplies and into the yard, coming to a skittering halt in front of Skara. The many beads, crystals and golden rings weaved through her braids jingling with the movement.

She panted slightly, sweat glistening on her forehead as she beamed up at Skara, offering her a bright toothy grin

"War General Skara!" Aja dipped into the traditional sagaran greeting, her head bowed and her arms spread to either side, palms up " Mr War Commander Ramirez is in his study, let me show you to him! we are all so excited that you are here! did your travels go well? the plains are so hot this time of year and your clothes look unbearable! I'm sure we can find you sagaran clothing for your stay if you want to loan some? if not that is perfectly fine! Mr Count Vermillion has not arrived yet, according to the message we received he is arriving tonight with the scarabs, there are rooms prepared for you, would you prefer to go there first or directly to Mr War Commander Ramirez?"

  • Skara looked down on the beautiful woman smiling at her and bombarding her with so many questions. "äääh", she started to recap all the information. A look back at her soldiers - yes, they were taken care off.

"Thank you so much for having us" she tried to copy the greeting. "yes, please take me to him. I don't need to rest, I'll see to my quarters later"

As they made their way trough the court she answered all the other questions "Your fiefdom is so amazing, i never knew! And yes, I'm NOW aware that I'm not dressed for the climate. So I would be honored to receive something from you." Her voice got a little high and she tried to calm herself "In fact I would love to experience all your traditions and customs!"

In her mind she saw herself flying on horseback over the plains, smoking waterpipe with Ramirez and watching exotic dancing.

She swiped away those little girls dreams and tried to keep up with that very quick redhair.

  • Aja nodded eagerly and began to walk through the keep, throwing a glance over her shoulder to make sure Skara followed her. Skara's words coaxed a happy laugh from her lips.

"Luckily you only make that mistake once in Sagara! then you get too tired of being sweaty and hot and never repeat it again. We for sure have something for you! I can ask someone to put it in your room so you can wear it if you want to!" Aja's tone got excited "And you must! We have so much to show you! I know how much War Commander Ramirez has been looking forward to your visit and planning" she grinned, winking at Skara as she pushed against a heavily decorated door, swinging it open.

"Mr War Commander Ramirez! General Skara has arrived...uh" She trailed off awkwardly at the look the man behind the desk sent her way and she reached up to knock on the open door with a bright smile, hitting it hard three times. "See..? I remember to knock" she stepped into the room, moving aside to let Skara in as well.

  • Ramirez placed the papers in his hands on the desk and stood with a flourish, a wide smile overtaking his face as he moved around the desk, stepping forward to greet Skara. "Welcome dear friend!" he offered her a soldier´s handshake, grasping her forearm tightly, friendly "Have a seat" he gestured to a balcony on the side of the room with a couple of comfortable looking chairs, some of them overflowing with pillows "You must be tired after your travels". He turned to Aja, eyes scanning her form "Thank you Aja, now perhaps you should get properly dressed before you join us and bring the crystals with you"

He followed Skara out onto the balcony, taking a seat opposite her. The rolling plains of Sagara splayed out beneath them along with the bustling keep "Tell how you have been holding up?" He reached out to pour her cup of sweet rum along with a glass of water.

  • The balcony and its seats looked in fact very inviting and her legs were really sore. But as they went there she wasn't sitting down. Instead she went to the railing and looked over the plains. It was too amazing to miss a second of the sight.
When she finally turned around and took the offered glasses with a "thank you" she signed a little bit. "Well, obviously a lot has been going on on the coasts of the realm. But there is always some danger somewhere and I'm confindend that we will conquer these now, too."
She downed the glass of water but took her time with the good rum. Then she stretched her body to ease the muscles and set down on all the pillows. Her legs thanked her gratefully for that. She suppressed the need to throw her legs on the fragile, artsy table and to pull down her boots. That would have been too smelly and inappropriate.

"I'm very honored by all your effords for us, Ramirez. I will be honored to participate and experience everything of Sagara you allow me to see." She looked deep into his eyes, trying to figure him out. "But as soon as you are ready I would rather not speak to you as the voice of the regent but a friend. I need a honest conversation."
