    Sir Dagger of Blackwood

We have received your letter with much delight. We are well here in Drachenbrück and hope that you and your endeavors are faring well.

We do not know the answers to your questions just yet, though Lady Molly has taken it upon herself to seek out the answers for you. She will return with them as soon as time permits it.

May the Elements protect and guide you.

It is indeed grim tidings that you sent us. To have people murdered in cold blood, in our very homelands, will not stand. Rest assured that we will sent people to aid you in your investigations as well as guardsmen to secure the Salty Stick. In such dire times, we must stand united, and show potential evil-doers that Zweiwasser and East Blackwood, stand together.

We appreciate your letter, and hope that you will keep us notified of any development in this matter and if another such incident should happen, Elements forbid it, there must be spared no effort to wrest the secrets of the culprits.

The law of the land is clear on such matters and none shall defy it.

May the Elements protect you and guide you.

Varek smiled at Élane, his curt demeanor forgotten. Putting down his quill he turned to a stack of letters and with a quick search, found the one he was looking for.

"I have indeed Élane. Tendal will be allowed to live in Medina's vacant castle and is allowed to gather the relics and effects of the deceased, as per his wishes. Though it should only be the effects that are not currently in use. I have asked that we send some people to help him with this task and make sure everything is written down. This letter will hold the details, as well as my seal of approval. Please make sure it gets to him.."

Varek handed Élane the letter, his hand shaking ever so slightly.

"And Élane. Stay safe on your journey."

"Enter." comes the curt reply from the otherside of the door.

Varek is seated near his desk, illuminated by a single candle. His brows are furrowed, as he is putting the last of his thoughts to a sheet of paper.

The Baron is dressed in a simple shirt, closed at the neck, thin gloves and simple, comfortable pants and short boots. If not for the lack of dirt, he might as well have been on an errand outside.

Varek sat reclined in his chair, a small smile on his lips. He enjoyed listening to his now clearly excited wife, though he understood little of what had riled her up so. He felt the burning sensation from his drink flow through his body and the pleasant relaxation it brought with it. Perhaps he could close his eyes, just for a moment, to savor this brief respite.

Blissfull darkness surrounding him and slowly Molly's and Marcus' voice dimmed as well. For the first long while, Varek felt at peace. Then it struck him once more. The darkness turned suffocating and a dull, wet feeling spread across his scalp. Cursed voices, chanting in their rough foreign tongue, and fiery pain in his limbs.

Varek opened his eyes and suppressed a gasp for air. He sat very still in his chair, his eyes darting around the room for a moment to assure himself of where he was. He felt cold sweat trickled down his neck as he slowly regained his senses and the feeling of alertness left him.

Varek quietly kept his peace, with a smile on his lips as he raised his own liqour. He had faith in Molly's abilities, but he also knew her taste differt greatly from his own.
He enjoyed these rare moments. Usually he didn't have the time to luxuriously relax like this. If he wasn't drenched blood and gore on the battlefield, he was knee-deep in paperwork, trying to take on this new role. It was nice for a change to sit back and relax and leave the leading role to his beloved wife.

With these thoughts Varek leaned back further in his chair and savored the bitterness of his drink.
