Ninska also raised her cup to Pandion's words. Yes, he was right, she knew, but she couldn't see it that way. Not now. She noticed Èlane's look and returned it. The expression in Ninska's eyes changed from sadness to pain and anger. She closed her eyes briefly and took an audible breath. It seemed that she had managed to restrain him, but he had only changed rooms and would continue to smoulder in the woman. She looked at Emeline. Maybe if someone started to say something, she would be able to contribute as well. But for the moment she was busy sorting out her feelings inside.

Ninska had known what Èlane would say. She herself had been present at the forging of the Razash Dai and the Dread Blades. Even then she had understood, but it didn't make it any easier. After Pandion's words, she raised her glass.

"I drink to Mistress Ignis. To the community and friendship."

I would like to drink to the Razash Dai. Especially to the Mistress of the Fire Mark. To Medina and to Khatir, who was one of the fifty Razash Dai who stood by her on her last journey. "Briefly her voice trembled but regained its strength.

"Without them, all this would not have been possible. Without the sacrifice of all the Razash Dai, we could not have reached this far, nor could we have found Barnabas. "

She toasted the others and gave a sip into the fire.

    Then she drank.

She thought of the days of the glow in the last run of the sun. How they, together with Pandion and Khatir, had questioned the young thief Torge. When one of Torge's remarks had upset Khatir and Ninska had laid her hand on Khatir's. How Pandion had seen it. As Pandion had seen it and grinned. She took another sip of port wine to help swallow the burgeoning memory. She really didn't want it right now, and she didn't want to think about the letter either.

Ninska gratefully accepted the cup offered to her with a smile. Tarin's question made her think of how she had put the ashes of Khatir's hair into a cup of port a few moons ago. She had fulfilled her Daroth son's last wish and drunk his ashes with wine. This stung her again, but it seemed fitting to choose port again. She pointed kindly to the bottle of port.

"Port, please. Thank you for your hospitality. "

Ninska was back from the hustle. She saw the different fires, the different camps. She did not feel like celebrating. It burned inside her. A bitterness that choked her throat, made it difficult for her to swallow and charred her heart to embers. It was hard for her to bear all this. The thing with the Edalphi. Ninska had been there, had understood the others so well. And already there she had noticed how many had wept for the Magica children. There had been so many more than at the sacrifice of the Razash Dai. So many more were mourning. Even though she herself was grieving, it had cut her deeply, but she had felt for them. But after the decision of the Quin... Every joyful face, every happy laugh,at the return, had given her another burning cut. Even Khatir's voice inside her had not been able to comfort her. On the contrary, it hurt even more and lit a fire that burned hot and dark. She paused briefly and grabbed her neck, in the mistaken hope of briefly banishing the bitterness. Ninska saw the camp of Zweiwasser and Gorasien. She saw familiar people. She took a deep breath. She hardened for a while. She should go to sleep soon. She was not good company right now
